Each film-coated tablet contains:
Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 400 mg
Fluoroquinolone antibiotic (Systemic antibacterial)
Moxifloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes that are essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair in bacteria. Inhibition of these enzymes prevents bacterial cell division and leads to rapid bacterial death. Due to its dual-target mechanism, moxifloxacin demonstrates potent activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as atypical and anaerobic pathogens.
Odycin Tablet 400 mg is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including:
Community-acquired pneumonia
Acute bacterial sinusitis
Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
Skin and soft tissue infections
Intra-abdominal infections (in combination with appropriate agents)
Other infections caused by moxifloxacin-sensitive organisms
The use of Odycin Tablet should be guided by clinical judgment and local antimicrobial susceptibility patterns.
