Pantobex Injection 40 mg/vial contains Pantoprazole Sodium, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively suppresses gastric acid secretion. It is formulated for intravenous administration and is especially useful in patients who are unable to take oral medication or in acute clinical settings where rapid acid suppression is required.
Pantoprazole works by selectively and irreversibly inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) in the gastric parietal cells. By blocking the final step of acid production, Pantobex Injection provides potent and sustained reduction of both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion, regardless of the stimulus.

Pantobex Injection 40 mg/vial is indicated in conditions where inhibition of gastric acid secretion is therapeutically beneficial, including:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis
Gastric and duodenal ulcer disorders
Prevention and treatment of NSAID-induced gastric ulcers
Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other pathological hypersecretory conditions
Helicobacter pylori eradication (as part of combination therapy with appropriate antibiotics)
Stress-related mucosal damage and upper gastrointestinal bleeding in critically ill patients
Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI)
Pantoprazole Sodium is a substituted benzimidazole that suppresses the final step of gastric acid production by covalent binding to the proton pump. Following intravenous administration, pantoprazole is rapidly distributed to the gastric parietal cells, where it is converted to its active sulfenamide form in the acidic environment. This results in a dose-dependent and long-lasting reduction of gastric acid secretion.
Acid suppression occurs within a short time after administration and is maintained for up to 24 hours, making once-daily dosing sufficient in most cases.
The usual recommended dose is 40 mg once daily, administered intravenously as a slow injection or infusion, depending on clinical requirements. Dosage may be adjusted based on the severity of the condition and physician judgment. Transition to oral pantoprazole is recommended once the patient can tolerate oral therapy.
