Proceptin 40 mg is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively reduces stomach acid production. It is widely prescribed for the treatment and prevention of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including duodenal and gastric ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and NSAID-induced ulcers. By targeting the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, Proceptin 40 mg suppresses acid secretion, providing relief from symptoms such as heartburn, epigastric pain, and acid reflux, while promoting the healing of ulcers.

Proceptin 40 mg is indicated for:
Duodenal and gastric ulcers, including those caused by NSAIDs
Prevention of NSAID-associated ulcers in patients with a history of ulcer disease
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including maintenance therapy for chronic acid reflux
Acid-related dyspepsia
Severe reflux esophagitis with ulcers
Prophylaxis of acid aspiration during general anesthesia
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory conditions
Helicobacter pylori eradication as part of combination therapy with appropriate antibiotics
Proceptin 40 mg is a benzimidazole derivative that inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells. This blockade prevents the final step of acid production, resulting in effective suppression of gastric acid. After oral administration, its antisecretory effects begin within one hour, peak at approximately two hours, and last up to 72 hours. Acid secretion gradually resumes over 3–5 days after discontinuation.
Oral:
Duodenal ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks; increase to 40 mg daily in severe or recurrent cases
Gastric ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 8 weeks; severe cases may require 40 mg daily
NSAID-associated ulcers: 20 mg daily for 4–8 weeks; prophylaxis 20 mg once daily
GERD: 20–40 mg daily for 4–8 weeks; maintenance 20 mg daily
Dyspepsia: 10–20 mg once daily for 2–4 weeks
Prophylaxis of acid aspiration: 40 mg evening before and 40 mg 2–6 hours before surgery
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 60 mg daily initially, adjustable 20–120 mg
H. pylori eradication: 20 mg twice daily in combination with antibiotics
IV Injection:
40 mg slow IV over 2–5 minutes for prophylaxis or when oral administration is inappropriate
Infusion over 20–30 minutes using 100 ml of 5% dextrose or saline
May prolong effects of warfarin, phenytoin, and diazepam; dose adjustments may be necessary
No significant interaction with theophylline, propranolol, or antacids
Known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or any component of the formulation
