Ribox 60 mg is a potent, orally active non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides relief from pain, inflammation, and fever. It is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, which makes it effective in treating inflammatory conditions while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with non-selective NSAIDs. Ribox 60 mg is suitable for the management of arthritis, acute pain, and post-operative discomfort, offering targeted relief with a favorable safety profile when used as recommended.
This medication is primarily used for symptomatic management of musculoskeletal disorders, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute gouty arthritis. It is also effective for short-term moderate pain relief after dental surgery. By selectively inhibiting COX-2, Ribox 60 mg reduces prostaglandin synthesis involved in pain, swelling, and inflammation while sparing COX-1, which protects the stomach lining and supports normal platelet function.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
Ankylosing spondylitis
Acute gouty arthritis
Moderate pain associated with dental surgery (short-term)
Ribox 60 mg exerts anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects by selectively inhibiting COX-2 enzymes. Unlike non-selective NSAIDs, it spares COX-1, reducing the risk of gastrointestinal toxicity and platelet aggregation interference. The drug works by decreasing the production of prostanoids that mediate pain, swelling, and fever, providing effective symptom control in inflammatory conditions.
Selective COX-2 inhibition: Reduces prostaglandin-mediated pain and inflammation
Spare COX-1 activity: Minimizes gastrointestinal side effects and preserves platelet function
Analgesic and anti-inflammatory: Rapidly alleviates pain, swelling, and stiffness associated with arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders
Adults and adolescents (over 16 years):
Osteoarthritis: 30–60 mg once daily, adjusted based on symptom relief
Rheumatoid arthritis / Ankylosing spondylitis: 90 mg once daily
Acute gouty arthritis: 120 mg once daily for up to 8 days
Post-dental surgery pain: 90 mg once daily, limited to 3 days
General Guidelines:
Take with or without food
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration possible to reduce cardiovascular and gastrointestinal risks
Reassess patient response periodically, especially in chronic conditions
Oral anticoagulants (warfarin): May increase prothrombin time
Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, ARBs: Reduced antihypertensive effect possible
Lithium: Increased plasma levels
Ciclosporin and tacrolimus: Increased nephrotoxicity risk
Aspirin (low-dose): Can be co-administered safely
Hypersensitivity to Ribox or any NSAID
Active peptic ulcer or GI bleeding
Severe hepatic or renal impairment
Children and adolescents under 16
Pregnancy and lactation
Inflammatory bowel disease, congestive heart failure (NYHA II–IV), uncontrolled hypertension, ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease
Common: Palpitations, fatigue, influenza-like symptoms, ecchymosis
Less common: Dry mouth, taste changes, mouth ulcers, atrial fibrillation, transient ischemic attack, chest pain, flushing, cough, dyspnea
Rare: Confusion, hallucinations, electrolyte disturbances, myalgia, arthralgia
Caution in patients at risk of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, or renal complications
Monitor liver and kidney function during prolonged therapy
Discontinue if rash, hypersensitivity, or abnormal liver function develops
May mask fever or inflammation signs
Avoid use in patients with high cardiovascular risk unless benefits outweigh risks
Avoid in late pregnancy due to risk of premature ductus arteriosus closure
Use during breastfeeding is not recommended
Supportive care: Gastric lavage, electrolyte correction, and clinical monitoring
No specific antidote is available
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture
Keep out of reach of children.
