Tigel Tablet 60 mg contains Ticagrelor, an oral antiplatelet medication used to prevent blood clots in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or a history of myocardial infarction (heart attack). It belongs to the class of platelet aggregation inhibitors, which work by preventing platelets in the blood from clumping together and forming dangerous clots. Tigel is commonly prescribed alongside low-dose aspirin to improve cardiovascular outcomes in high-risk patients.

Therapeutic Class:
Antiplatelet Agents
Pharmacology:
Ticagrelor is a reversible, direct-acting P2Y12 receptor antagonist. By inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, it prevents adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-mediated platelet activation and aggregation. Unlike some other antiplatelet drugs, Ticagrelor does not require metabolic activation and provides rapid and consistent platelet inhibition. The onset of action is fast, and platelet function typically returns to normal within a few days after discontinuation.
Indications:
Tigel Tablet 60 mg is indicated for:
Reduction of the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular death in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Prevention of thrombotic events in patients with a history of myocardial infarction at high risk of recurrent events.
Use in combination with low-dose aspirin for enhanced antiplatelet efficacy.
Dosage & Administration:
The recommended dose is 60 mg twice daily, usually taken with or without food.
Tigel should be taken at the same time each day for consistent therapeutic effect.
Dose adjustments may be required for patients with liver impairment or those at increased risk of bleeding.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Ticagrelor or any component of the tablet.
Active pathological bleeding (e.g., gastrointestinal bleeding, intracranial hemorrhage).
History of intracranial hemorrhage.
Side Effects:
Common adverse effects may include:
Bleeding complications (most significant risk)
Shortness of breath (dyspnea)
Headache or dizziness
Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, or diarrhea
Serious but rare side effects may include severe bleeding, allergic reactions, or liver function abnormalities. Patients should report unusual bleeding, bruising, or shortness of breath to their healthcare provider immediately.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
The safety of Tigel during pregnancy and lactation has not been fully established. It should only be used if the potential benefits outweigh the risks, and under strict medical supervision.
Precautions:
Caution in patients with increased bleeding risk.
Avoid abrupt discontinuation without consulting a physician, as it may increase the risk of thrombotic events.
Regular monitoring of liver function and signs of bleeding is recommended during therapy.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
