Amisure Injection 5 mg/2 ml contains Amisulpride, an atypical antipsychotic medication primarily used for the management of acute and chronic psychotic disorders. This injectable formulation is especially useful in hospital settings for patients who are unable to take oral medication or require rapid symptom control. Amisure Injection acts on specific dopamine receptors in the brain to help stabilize mood, reduce psychotic symptoms, and improve overall mental functioning.

Amisure Injection 5 mg/2 ml is indicated for the treatment of:
Acute and chronic schizophrenia
Acute psychotic episodes with positive symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and thought disorders
Management of agitation and behavioral disturbances associated with psychotic conditions
The injectable form is typically used for short-term treatment and may be switched to oral therapy once the patient is stabilized.
Atypical antipsychotic
Amisulpride selectively binds to dopamine D2 and D3 receptors, particularly in the limbic system of the brain. At lower doses, it preferentially blocks presynaptic dopamine receptors, enhancing dopamine transmission and improving negative symptoms such as social withdrawal and apathy. At higher doses, it blocks postsynaptic dopamine receptors, reducing excessive dopaminergic activity responsible for positive psychotic symptoms.
Unlike many other antipsychotics, amisulpride has minimal affinity for serotonin, histamine, adrenergic, or cholinergic receptors, which contributes to a lower risk of sedation and anticholinergic side effects.
The dosage of Amisure Injection should be determined by a qualified healthcare professional based on the patient’s condition and response to therapy.
Administered by intramuscular or intravenous injection
Dose and frequency depend on severity of symptoms
Usually used for short-term management in acute settings
Patients should be closely monitored during treatment, especially during initiation and dose adjustment.
Amisulpride may interact with other central nervous system depressants, increasing the risk of sedation. Concomitant use with drugs that prolong the QT interval, such as certain antiarrhythmics or antibiotics, should be avoided. Caution is also advised when used with antihypertensive drugs due to the potential for additive hypotensive effects.
Amisure Injection 5 mg/2 ml is contraindicated in patients with:
Known hypersensitivity to amisulpride
Prolactin-dependent tumors such as pituitary prolactinoma or breast cancer
Pheochromocytoma
Severe renal impairment
Common side effects may include extrapyramidal symptoms, restlessness, insomnia, dizziness, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Elevated prolactin levels may occur, leading to symptoms such as galactorrhea, menstrual disturbances, or gynecomastia. Rare but serious adverse effects include neuroleptic malignant syndrome, severe arrhythmias, and QT prolongation.

Caution is advised in elderly patients, those with renal impairment, cardiovascular disease, or a history of seizures. Regular monitoring of renal function, ECG, and prolactin levels may be required. Patients should be observed for signs of movement disorders and metabolic changes.
Amisure Injection should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Amisulpride is excreted in breast milk; therefore, breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
