Amloten Tablet 5 mg + 25 mg is a fixed-dose combination of Amlodipine Besilate and Atenolol, designed for the effective management of hypertension and related cardiovascular conditions. By combining a calcium channel blocker with a cardioselective beta-blocker, Amloten provides dual action on blood pressure control, helping patients achieve better and more stable cardiovascular outcomes.

Amlodipine Besilate USP: 5 mg
Atenolol USP: 25 mg
Dosage Form: Oral tablet
Calcium Channel Blocker + Beta-1 Selective Adrenergic Blocker
Antihypertensive and Antianginal combination
Amloten Tablet 5 mg + 25 mg is indicated for the treatment of:
Essential Hypertension, especially when monotherapy is inadequate
Chronic Stable Angina Pectoris
Patients requiring combination therapy for effective blood pressure and heart rate control
Reduction of cardiovascular risks such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and other complications associated with hypertension
Amloten combines the complementary mechanisms of two well-established cardiovascular agents. Amlodipine Besilate inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to relaxation and dilation of peripheral blood vessels. This reduces systemic vascular resistance and lowers blood pressure without significantly affecting heart rate.
Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that decreases heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output. It also reduces renin release from the kidneys, contributing to further blood pressure reduction.
Together, these agents provide additive antihypertensive and antianginal effects, improving myocardial oxygen balance, reducing cardiac workload, and offering sustained 24-hour blood pressure control with once-daily dosing.
The usual dose is one tablet once daily, or as prescribed by a physician.
The tablet should be swallowed whole with water, with or without food.
Dose adjustments may be necessary based on individual patient response, age, and coexisting medical conditions.
Abrupt discontinuation, especially of the beta-blocker component, should be avoided.
Amloten Tablet is generally well tolerated. Some patients may experience:
Dizziness or fatigue
Headache
Peripheral edema
Bradycardia or slow heart rate
Cold extremities
Gastrointestinal discomfort
Most adverse effects are mild and transient. Persistent or severe reactions require medical attention.
