Aristoferon 200 ml is an oral iron preparation containing Ferrous Sulfate, formulated to prevent and treat iron deficiency anemia. It is especially beneficial for individuals with increased iron requirements, such as pregnant women, growing children, or patients with nutritional deficiencies. Ferrous sulfate serves as a vital source of iron, replenishing iron stores in hemoglobin, myoglobin, and other enzymes, thereby supporting oxygen transport, energy production, and overall metabolic function.
Aristoferon is a convenient liquid formulation that allows for accurate dosing and easy administration in children and adults. Its liquid form can be mixed with water or fruit juice to enhance compliance and reduce the risk of temporary teeth staining.

Aristoferon 200 ml is indicated for:
Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia
Anemia of pregnancy where routine iron supplementation is necessary
Supplementation in individuals with increased iron requirements due to growth, blood loss, or nutritional deficiency
Oral Iron Preparations
Ferrous sulfate provides elemental iron, which is essential for the synthesis of hemoglobin in red blood cells. By replenishing iron stores:
Oxygen transport via hemoglobin is restored
Myoglobin and other iron-dependent enzymes function optimally
Symptoms of anemia, such as fatigue, pallor, and weakness, are reduced
Adults:
Initial therapeutic dose: 3–4½ teaspoonfuls daily, divided into doses
Maintenance dose: 1½ teaspoonful daily, with a maximum of up to 9 teaspoonfuls daily if necessary
Children:
Under 1 year: ¼ teaspoonful three times daily
1–5 years: 1 teaspoonful three times daily
6–12 years: 1½ teaspoonfuls twice daily
Administration Instructions:
Take on an empty stomach for optimal absorption
May be taken with meals to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort
Mix with water or fruit juice; do not mix with milk
Rinse mouth after administration to prevent temporary teeth staining
Tetracyclines: Iron reduces absorption; administer tetracycline 3 hours before or 2 hours after iron
Antacids and tea: Can decrease iron absorption
Avoid co-administration with other minerals that may interfere with absorption
Hemochromatosis or hemosiderosis
Anemia not caused by iron deficiency
Patients receiving repeated blood transfusions
Known hypersensitivity to ferrous sulfate
Common side effects:
Gastrointestinal discomfort: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
Constipation with prolonged use
Temporary teeth staining (less likely if diluted)
Note: Side effects may be reduced by taking iron with food, though absorption is slightly decreased.
Use with caution in patients with iron storage disorders, hemoglobinopathies, or gastrointestinal disease
Monitor for signs of iron overload or gastrointestinal intolerance
Keep out of reach of children to avoid accidental overdose
Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, hematemesis, seizures, drowsiness, metabolic acidosis, hepatic dysfunction, renal failure, coma
Treatment:
Gastric lavage to empty stomach contents
Supportive therapy, including intravenous desferrioxamine in severe cases
Haemodialysis is generally ineffective
Pregnancy: Not classified by FDA; use as clinically indicated
Lactation: Use with caution
Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
