Baloxa Tablet 40 mg contains Baloxavir Marboxil, an advanced antiviral agent indicated for the treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza. It is active against both influenza A and influenza B viruses and is designed to reduce the duration and intensity of flu symptoms when taken early in the course of infection. The higher strength of 40 mg is intended for patients requiring a weight-appropriate dose as determined by clinical guidelines.
Baloxa Tablet 40 mg offers the convenience of single-dose oral therapy, improving patient adherence while effectively limiting viral replication. It is most beneficial when treatment is initiated within 48 hours of the onset of influenza symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue.

Baloxavir Marboxil 40 mg
Antiviral agent (influenza virus replication inhibitor)
Baloxa Tablet 40 mg is indicated for:
Treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza A and B
Use in adults and adolescents as prescribed by a physician
Early antiviral therapy to reduce symptom severity and viral shedding
Baloxavir Marboxil is a prodrug that is rapidly converted after oral administration into its active form, baloxavir acid. This active metabolite selectively inhibits the influenza virus cap-dependent endonuclease, a critical enzyme involved in viral RNA transcription. By blocking this enzyme, the drug prevents viral replication at an early stage of the influenza life cycle.
Baloxavir acts through a mechanism distinct from neuraminidase inhibitors, making it effective against influenza strains that may show reduced sensitivity to other antiviral agents. Its prolonged half-life supports effective treatment with a single oral dose.
Baloxa Tablet 40 mg is administered orally as a single dose or according to physician advice.
Dosage is determined based on body weight and clinical recommendations
The tablet can be taken with or without food
Treatment should begin as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours of symptom onset
Patients should avoid co-administration with dairy products or supplements containing calcium, magnesium, iron, or zinc, as these may interfere with drug absorption.
Baloxa Tablet 40 mg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Baloxavir Marboxil or any of the excipients.
Baloxa Tablet 40 mg is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include:
Diarrhea
Nausea
Headache
Mild respiratory tract symptoms
These adverse effects are usually mild and self-limiting.

Not indicated for severe or complicated influenza requiring hospitalization
Should not replace annual influenza vaccination
Caution is advised in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment
Unnecessary or repeated use may increase the risk of antiviral resistance
Baloxa Tablet 40 mg should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. It is not known whether Baloxavir is excreted in human milk; therefore, caution is advised when administered to breastfeeding mothers.
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Baloxavir Marboxil inhibits influenza virus replication by blocking the cap-dependent endonuclease enzyme, preventing viral mRNA transcription and limiting viral spread within the respiratory tract.
