Glipxen-M Tablet 2.5 mg+500 mg is a combination antidiabetic medicine containing Linagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride. It is used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus when blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, or single-agent therapy. This combination helps improve both fasting and postprandial glucose levels through complementary mechanisms.

Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains:
-
Linagliptin 2.5 mg
-
Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg
Mechanism of Action
-
Linagliptin inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, increasing incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which enhance insulin secretion and reduce glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner.
-
Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal glucose absorption, and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
Together, these actions provide effective glycemic control with a low risk of hypoglycemia when used appropriately.
