Intafenac 50 mg is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) widely used for pain relief, inflammation control, and management of rheumatic conditions. Its main indications include:

Intafenac 50 mg contains diclofenac, a potent NSAID with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-rheumatic properties.
Mechanism of Action:
Inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesis, which is responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever.
Rapid absorption from the gastrointestinal tract when taken with or after meals.
Peak plasma concentration occurs within 2 hours of oral administration.
Highly protein-bound (99.7%) and metabolized in the liver via first-pass metabolism.
Also exhibits a mild uricosuric effect, beneficial in acute gout attacks.
Oral Tablet / Sustained Release / Dispersible Tablet:
Adults: 75–150 mg daily in divided doses
Sustained release: 1 tablet daily, may supplement with conventional tablets up to 150 mg
Dispersible tablet: 2–3 tablets daily; maximum 150 mg
Suppository:
Adults: 50 mg 2–3 times daily, max 150 mg
Injection:
Adults: 1 ampoule intramuscularly daily; in severe cases, 2 ampoules daily
Gel (Topical):
Apply 2–4 g to the affected area 3–4 times daily
Children:
Only recommended for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
Dose: 1–3 mg/kg/day in divided doses
Elderly:
Use the lowest effective dose due to increased sensitivity
Diuretics: May reduce diuretic effectiveness
Potassium-sparing diuretics: Risk of hyperkalemia
Digoxin, Methotrexate, Cyclosporine, Lithium: Monitor for increased toxicity
Other NSAIDs or glucocorticoids: Increased risk of gastrointestinal side effects
Hypersensitivity to diclofenac or NSAIDs
Peptic ulcer disease or gastrointestinal bleeding
Asthma triggered by aspirin or NSAIDs
Gel should not be applied under occlusive dressings
Gastrointestinal: Epigastric pain, nausea, diarrhea
Neurological: Dizziness, headache
Dermatologic: Rash, eczema, local irritation (gel)
Others: Peripheral edema, mild transient effects
Avoid unless benefits outweigh risks
Not recommended in the first trimester
Minimal diclofenac may pass into breast milk; effects on infant are generally insignificant
Monitor for peptic ulceration or GI bleeding, especially in elderly
Avoid contact of gel with eyes or mucous membranes
Wash hands after topical application
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from light
Keep out of reach of children
