Alodia Tablet 12.5 mg contains Alogliptin Benzoate, an oral antidiabetic medicine used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor class and works by improving the body’s natural regulation of blood glucose levels. Alodia Tablet 12.5 mg is particularly useful for patients who require a lower dose due to renal impairment or as part of combination therapy. It is prescribed alongside proper diet and exercise to help maintain long-term glycemic control.

Alodia Tablet 12.5 mg is indicated for:
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
Improving glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are inadequate
Use as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin
This medication is not intended for use in type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
DPP-4 inhibitor (Antidiabetic agent)
Alogliptin Benzoate selectively inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which breaks down incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By inhibiting DPP-4, alogliptin increases endogenous incretin levels, leading to enhanced glucose-dependent insulin secretion and decreased glucagon release. This reduces hepatic glucose production and improves both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. Because its action depends on blood glucose levels, the risk of hypoglycemia is minimal when used alone.
The dosage of Alodia Tablet 12.5 mg should be determined by a physician based on the patient’s clinical condition.
Recommended dose: 12.5 mg once daily
May be taken with or without food
Swallow the tablet whole with water
This strength is commonly prescribed for patients with moderate renal impairment. Dose adjustments may be necessary depending on kidney function, and regular monitoring is advised.
Alogliptin has a low likelihood of clinically significant drug interactions. It can be used with most oral antidiabetic medicines and insulin. However, when combined with insulin or insulin secretagogues, there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia, and dose adjustment of the concomitant drug may be required.
Alodia Tablet 12.5 mg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Alogliptin Benzoate or any excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Alodia Tablet is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include headache, upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, and mild gastrointestinal discomfort. Rare but serious adverse reactions include pancreatitis, severe joint pain, and hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema or skin rash.
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, a history of pancreatitis, or heart failure. Renal function should be assessed before starting therapy and monitored periodically. Patients should be advised to seek medical attention if they experience severe abdominal pain suggestive of pancreatitis.
