Azithrocin Suspension 200 mg/5 ml is an oral antibiotic formulation containing Azithromycin Dihydrate, a well-established macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in infants and children. This suspension form is specially designed to ensure easy administration, accurate dosing, and better acceptance in pediatric patients who may have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules.
Azithromycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping the growth and multiplication of susceptible microorganisms. Due to its excellent tissue penetration and prolonged half-life, Azithrocin Suspension provides sustained antibacterial activity, allowing for once-daily dosing and shorter treatment durations. These characteristics make it a convenient and effective choice in pediatric antibiotic therapy.

Azithrocin Suspension 200 mg/5 ml is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
Upper respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and sinusitis
Lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis and pneumonia

Skin and soft tissue infections
Certain gastrointestinal and systemic infections as advised by a physician
It is also used in specific cases of sexually transmitted infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis when oral suspension is required, based on medical judgment.
Azithromycin belongs to the azalide subclass of macrolide antibiotics. It exerts its antibacterial effect by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, thereby blocking protein synthesis and inhibiting bacterial growth.
Azithrocin Suspension shows activity against a broad range of organisms including Streptococcus species, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Legionella pneumophila, and Bordetella pertussis. Its ability to concentrate at infection sites contributes to enhanced efficacy and prolonged action.
